Decisions, decisions.....

Today is a odd day here in Northeast PA, it's hot and humid with a threat of rain. Definitely not the kind of day to be painting, which was my agenda for the entire day. I planned on painting my front porch late spring early summer and it didn't get done, what held me up? I couldn't decide on paint colors! I've agonized about it for months! I enlisted help from family, friends and even my friends on the Internet and nothing seem to strike a chord with me. A couple of nights ago I just decided to stand on the porch with my color wheel and chips until I figured out what I was going to do, I've always worked better under pressure. There I stood, for about an hour holding up chips squinting, one eye closed then the other, trying to "see" it in my mind. Why is it so hard! If it were someone Else's I would be able to say "that one" and be done with it. I finally decided on using pretty much the same colors as the house: the body of the house is sage green, the trim is cream and the eaves, door and (eventually) shutters are a deep eggplant color. My plan has been to paint a faux rug on the porch but I needed a base color. What I decided on is a diamond pattern of the cream and green with small, random, intersecting accent diamonds in the eggplant, the rug will probably have to wait until spring now.

My real reason for the post today, before I went on a tangent, was to share my latest finds with you. At work this week, something told me to go to the local hospital's consignment shop, so I went on my lunch break. I was pleasantly surprised that I hit the motherload! :) I got quite a few things, so I thought I'd share a few; I found some lovely old prints from a artist named Will Cairns, I can't find anything about him so I'm sure they aren't worth anything, I will be using them for my art work. I also found these lovely little salt and pepper shakers, they are so tiny. My plans are to use them also for art, possibly some jewelry? There were also several little bags of lace I found that will work well with my mixed media work.

Look at this lovely lady, she was lounging on the floor and I knew I had to have her. The tag said she was Cleopatra but she's clearly a Renaissance woman or a Botticelli. I definitely won't be leaving her this color, I'll probably fix her up, maybe a nice patina to make her look like aged mossy stone?

Guess who I thought of when I spied this?? You probably don't even have to think twice! Do you think Kim over at Daisy Cottage would like this Kate Spade bag I found? When I saw the tag I had to snatch it up, you don't find Kate Spade in our neck of the woods too often.

I found some other things but I thought these were the most interesting and wouldn't bore you to pieces. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Really enjoy your blog and delightful sense of humor. Thank you for sharing Malphi's sewing art. Trying to talk her into a ready made wrap dress as I sew...not at all. :)

I certianly understand the hesitation in chosing a color for your own house! I am the same way. I can pick something for a client in no time!!

The vintage trims and s&p are a beautiful picture
