IT'S MY PARTY

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!! :)

I've had some good ones through the years, I remember my 13th I had a ice skating/ice cream party, that was fun. My 16th, my good friends threw me a party in a barn one of the gifts I got was a pair of fingerless gloves...hey don't laugh! They were all the rage! My 18th I was away at college and my college room mate and new friends gave me a huge surprise party when I came back from studying at the library. My 21st I don't remember, not because I was drunk or anything because I've never been much of a partier, I just don't think it was a big deal. My 24th was nice; my ex-husband and son took me to a very special restaurant and when we came home our friends were there to surprise me. Every birthday I've had with my husband now has been great he has always been thoughtful, he may not have a huge blowout party but he gives me very thoughtful gifts.

Not to say all my birthdays have been great, I remember a birthday when I didn't get the roller skates I wanted SO bad! I cried *remember I'm a drama queen* and cried, and cried, and cried until my mother finally took me to get the roller skates. I'm sure she wanted to wrap them around my neck! I remember a birthday where like "Sixteen Candles" everyone forgot! Didn't even get a card! But those birthdays were few and far between.

I really have been blessed with a good life, great friends and family and because of that I decided I'd like to give someone a birthday present. I've put together a little package of some vintage fabric, lace, ribbon, a cameo pin, buttons (vintage and not so), a vintage card and a Home Planner Book by the editors of Victoria. Just leave me a comment or tell me your favorite or funny birthday memory and I will put you in the drawing for the birthday gift.

Thank you again for all the wonderful Birthday wishes.

Well, my most memorable birthday was my 20th. I was at my grandmas house laying across her bed talking to my mother while watching something on tv, complaining about how there was nothign exciting going on... when life got very exciting! The news broke into programming to let people in the area know that tornados were cropping up all over the state and that violent and severe thunderstorms were everywhere. We were to stay tuned to a local station and stay indoors. Later that afternoon we were watching as the May 3rd F5 ripped thru our state (Oklahoma) and over 20 other tornados cropped up all over. I spent my 20th birthday either glued to tv, looking outside or hiding out in the hallway since we had no storm shelter at my grandmas at the time. At one point looking out my grandmas back door into the night lightning struck and we could see not one, not two, but THREE tornados on the ground and headed in our direction. They all hit transformers within the next several minutes which lights them up momentarily. It was eery and very scary. Definitely a birthday I will never forget.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUGAR!!!!

My b-day is February 13th. Every year for my birthday my mom would make me a red velvet cake in the shape of a heart. After so many years of the same cake I asked her to make something different.....a hawaiian wedding cake, very yummy. But now, I miss my red velvet cake and a few years ago I had a co-worker make me a red velvet cake. Now it's my son's favorite cake as well. :)

You're such a darling. I would love to be the lucky recipient. For my 10th birthday my parents had a party at McDonald's for me. It was a very big deal back then. My 21st birthday was spent at my uncle's bar with my family. It was the only bar that I hadn't drank in before turning legal (SSSSHHHH!) So that was a big deal for me. Now, I hardly ever drink. Guess the fun is gone. Or I'm getting old. I'm not sure.

Anyway - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! May the dear Lord bless you!

Love,
Julie

Happy Birthday -- you deserve to have an awesome one!!!

I am having trouble remembering my favourite birthday...maybe because I've had so many? ;)

Still, I remember being at the cottage, probably when I was 8 or 9, and my mom had made a cake with white icing and raspberries....YUMMY! :)

I had to laugh about the skates. It reminded me of my second Christmas at my in-laws. My mother-in-law, a stoic farmer's wife, gave me a roasting pan as a gift. When I (miss city girl) got home, I cried and cried, waling at the dark bedroom wall on that late Christmas Eve thinking it was the worst gift anyone could give to anyone and that it must have meant she thought I was lousy in the kitchen and was giving me a strong hint to improve my ways. That was a long, loooong time ago before I learned how to cook and realized how much I loved cooking.
